Growing up in NYC, Jim’s initial stylist training began in Ridgefield, CT. and continued in the U.S. and Europe, with stops at Vidal Sassoon in California, and the Toni & Guy Academies in Dallas and Chicago. His expert training continued at Bumble and bumble in New York followed by studies in Prague and Italy to become a certified Framesi Colorist. Jim customizes each client’s look by paying extreme attention to design detail in all aspects “hair”. With 25+ years of success in the industry, Jim can be found welcoming clients with his “verve” while focusing daily on the consistent personal experience that MCN Salon delivers to every guest. When not styling hair, Jim can be found perfecting his game of golf while taking in the beautiful scenic views of each course.
Lisa opened MCN Salon in 1999 as a co-owner. Starting her career in 1985, Lisa has been focusing on hair for 25+ years. She has trained with Vidal Sassoon, Framesi Color Education, and has been a part of the Framesi design team as a master colorist for 10 years. From Pittsburgh to Prague she has perfected her expertise in all things hair. As one of the owners of MCN Salon, she is totally dedicated to the professional growth of each stylist. She is committed to the education of her dynamic team in order to deliver and uphold a perfect balance of technical expertise, client care, and service with a progressive attitude and artistic vision. Lisa’s passion is to coach each individual stylist on the importance of clear and concise communication during consultations which achieves an unparalleled experience for everyone. When not doing hair, Lisa is involved in her second passion, horses. She spends as much time as possible riding her horse Firefly, as well as traveling to the premier racetracks around the United States and Europe. During the spring season her free time is spent in Lexington, Kentucky assisting and delivering newborn equine babies, also known as foaling.
Sara’s career at MCN began in 2003. She is one of MCN’s most progressive, dedicated and determined stylists. As a Framesi Master Colorist and former Bumble & bumble Network Educator, Sara is skilled in all hair competencies. She specializes in razor cuts, Balayage, special occasion styling, Brazilian Blowouts and Relaxers.
Kara has been a member of the MCN family since 2006. As a stylist Kara has a passion for perfecting her craft. The continuing education and training she received from Bumble and bumble NYC, Framesi as a certified colorist and Graham Webb in Virginia she feels is key to her success as a stylist. Kara’s eye for creative color and cutting techniques and her willingness to listen to client’s requests and suggestions is her formula to create the perfect hairstyle for you. Kara loves to work hard, but also enjoys her time off traveling, finding new music, enjoying new restaurants, and using her creativity in other artistic ways.
Ashley has been at MCN since 2010 and is a color expert. She is one of the salons color correction specialists. She has trained with Bumble & Bumble , Framesi, Aveda and recently attended a color class in Chicago from celebrity stylist Guy Tang. Ashley is passionate about color and creating customized looks to make you look and feel amazing!
Heather joined the MCN team in 2009. After graduating from Pitt, she attended South Hills Beauty Academy to help fuel her creative juices and has since trained with Aveda, Wella, Redken and Framesi colorists. Heather prides herself on giving simple, straight forward styles that require little or no styling; her own personal style leads to fresh fashionable cuts for the more adventurous client. Heather loves heavily textured bobs, men’s cuts, razor cuts, short cuts and welcoming challenges of Asian hair. This wife and mother of two can be found traveling to different parts of the world to check out architecture and design, enjoying good food and wine while taking in a jazz show, and doing Pilates in her remodeled home in the Mexican War streets.
Originally from Portland Oregon, Brent brings a west-coast perspective to the Pittsburgh region and MCN Team, since 2010. His former career as a marketing and advertising executive has taken him around the country providing endless topics for conversation. Brent is MCN’s Artistic Educational Director and Bumble and Bumble Network Educator, and a Certified Framesi Master Hair Colorist and Educator. He has studied Sassoon precision cutting along with Bumble and Bumble razor cutting techniques building up his love of using architectural elements in hair design and sharing the art and science of hair color. Outside of MCN, you will find Brent traveling for inspiration, spending time with friends taking in local theater, enjoying a great restaurant, or out boating with his wheaten terrier, Sophie.
Originally from the Finger Lakes of New York, Jessie came to Pittsburgh in 2007 to study art. She found that her love for hair, makeup, fashion, and design could all be combined in a career in cosmetology. Jessie has attended the Paul Mitchell Academy, Jessie has studied extensively with Framesi and in April 2013 attended the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Toronto and is certified Aqua Extensions. Come to see Jessie for your blonding, it is her favorite technique. Her easy going personality and passion for glamorous style really help her to connect with you to create an amazing style. Jessie’s time away from the salon is spent with her little boy, Lincoln.
Jessica Leigh relocated from Palm Springs to Pittsburgh in 2012 and upon her arrival joined the MCN family. She has been passionate about the hair industry since a young age, having practically grown up in her father’s hair salon in Cleveland, OH. With her experience she consistently adds to her repertoire through advanced education. Vidal Sassoon, Nick Arrojo, Wella and Sebastian styling are among those that have inspired and shaped her career the most. Her favorite part of being a hairstylist is working with each individual to customize a hairstyle that best suits their personality and lifestyle. Outside of the salon, she loves to explore all of the culture and spirit that Pittsburgh has to offer with her husband, little girl and boy.
Chauncey returned to MCN in 2015 after her 2010 start here after graduating from Casal Aveda Institute. She loves to use her skills for balayage and cutting with her clients and might even spend an entire haircut discussing Game of Thrones. Chauncey is enthusiastic about the city of Pittsburgh; she has lived on Observatory Hill for the past few years, loves hockey and is a Pens season ticket holder with her family. Netflix marathons with her geriatric Pomeranian keep her busy during her limited down time.
A graduate from Bella Capelli, Kristen joined the MCN team in 2016. Kristen’s favorite aspect of styling is personalizing color for clients. Always willing to help out, Kristen also is an assistant and helps out at the front desk from time to time.
Kara started as the salon’s general manager in January of 2016. This is her first time working in a salon after 10 years of experience in the health food industry.
KP joined the MCN team in November 2016 after living in Pittsburgh for four years. In her spare time she has developed her clothing swap brand “Swap ‘Em If You Got ‘Em” and enjoys organizing events in Pittsburgh with her friends.
Nichelle joined the MCN team in 2016 after graduating from Bella Capelli in Monroeville. Nichelle enjoys the transformation a new style can create and making people feel good. When not working, she loves going out and having a good time with her friends.
Josie was our beloved mascot of MCN Salon for 13 years. She graced each guest with her regal presence yet friendly attitude. Sharing companionship with co-owners Jim and Lisa, Josie reflects the stylish and artist fashion of MCN. When not greeting clients in MCN Salon, Josie could be found napping in any sunlit spot, or ’working it’ to get a doggie treat! As you look around the salon, you would see many images of Josie enjoying her 13 years as our MCN pride and joy. Her love will last forever.
Our sweet puppies Mac (Bull Mastiff), Romeo & Juliet (English Bulldogs), are here to carry on the tradition of the love and welcoming spirit of Josie.
